The Objective

To search, buy, and retain highly collectible, heritage-rich automotive assets that will appreciate either through time, or through quality restoration, or both. Once an asset clears those criteria, we perform a detailed valuation analysis to confirm that the asset will yield an attractive risk-adjusted return over its investment. The method is simple, the execution is skilled.

Historical Data

Certain cars have shown consistently high demand (Ferrari) versus other that fluctuate (Jaguar). Historical data is one element of our tactical buying decisions.

The Classic Car market isn’t as mysterious or volatile as some may think. It’s often predictable, with steady demand - which M.A.I.G. provide supply for.

Mobile Art Investment Group’s 5-year goal is to become Canada’s first and foremost classic car investment group.

  • Mobile Art IG will provide portfolio diversification with a potential for double-digit returns and a defense against cyclical risks while having the benefit of owning a hard asset.

  • Mobile Art IG will research and identify an investment “pool” from which carefully selected vehicles will be purchased. These vehicles fall into two categories: Collectibles or Restoration Projects:

  1. Collector’s Condition vehicles will be detailed and professionally stored until maximum market value can be obtained, a timeline that can range between 6 months to 3 years.

  2. Restoration Projects will be fully restored to international standards in order to achieve maximum value.

Investors are welcome to get as involved as they desire in the individual projects they are invested in.

The storage space will be a potential venue for tailor-made events to satisfy every investor’s curiosity and interest.

CNBC "Inside Wealth", (March 4, 2015) "Classic cars were the best collectible investment in 2014": "Cars have also held the pole position over the longer term. They have posted the best 10-year performance—with gains of 487 percent—as well as the best over five years, with 140 percent."

Are gains of 487% common? No, but they are what we’re looking for as we buy. More common and realistic returns are 15-21%. Not so bad. ...and then come the show stoppers, like the 1962 250 GTO Berlinetta that recently sold for $38 million at auction.

Forbes (Oct 8, 2013) "Classic Cars Trump Luxury Real Estate for Return on Investment": "A recent study by global real estate advisor Knight Frank discovered that cars like Ferraris, Bugattis and Bentleys increased their value by 21% over the last six months and by 28% over the last year. By comparison, prime real estate in central London grew by 7% in the last 12 months and gold saw a 23% decline."

…21-28% are the more common returns. Of course, there are never guarantees, but knowledge and experience are always a factor, as in any business.
